Rehabilitation Project Phase I
During relief activities in Kutchh
- Bhuj district from Shinay relief
camp, Anoopam Mission surveyed that in the earthquake
disaster number of children have lost their parents,
relatives, near and dear ones. Many women have
lost their husband, families and relatives.
As per Govt. survey reports 1693 children - 723 girls and 970 boys have lost their father, mother or both and
relatives.
Anoopam Mission decided to make
Rehabilitation Centre for the earthquake victims.
The project site is located at Yogipuram Township
in Shinay Ta : Gandhidham, Dist : Kutchh - 370
205 on the Adipur - Mundra State high way.
Phase I of the
project included immediate construction of temporary
residences with all necessary infrastructure facilities
to shelter about 50 victim beneficiaries.
Phase I of the
project started on 20-07-2001.
People across the country and
abroad offered their whole hearted support towards
the construction of the project and support the
lives of the earthquake victim children for their
entire survival and development.
India development relief fund IDRF USA supported this project
to complete the requisite campus development for Phase I.
The campus was developed in a
land area of 3147.10 Sq. Met and was completed
in all respect on 21-12-2001 and the beneficiaries
sheltered on 17-01-2002. The rehabilitation centre
was named "Dharma Bhakti Niketan"
.
At "Dharma Bhakti Niketan
" 35 earthquake victim children in the age
group of 6 to 13 years at the time of admission
are sheltered. They study in the Primary school
standard 1 to 7. The academic progress of the
children is excellent.
At the end of the first academic
year ending March 2003 the result
of the children was 100 %. 46
% passed in first class with distinction, 36 %
passed with First class and 18 % passed with second
class.
At the end of the second academic
year ending March 2004 the result
of the children was 100 %. 47
% passed in first class with distinction, 40 %
passed with First class and 13 % passed with second
